One Race - One Win!

69 Corvette Stingray 465 CID

Newly aquired 69 Corvette Stingray from Duntov Motor Company in Dallas Texas.

The car was delivered to me at Road America in May 2015. Due to  major engine problems we spent most of the season rebuilding the engine and other problems on the car. After much expense and time we finally got to race the car at MT Tremblant - Fall Classic September 2015.

It took some time to dial the car in and progressed throughout the weekend. We entered the G70 - G90  Race Class. This class consists of more modern cars that also run on slicks. We knew this would be a challenge for an older car running on period correct bias ply treaded tires. We felt this presented the type of competition required to prepare us for SVRA Group 6 in the US.

Qualified 7th of 28 cars and had work to do to get the car set up. The Driver's first race of the season and was rusty and needed time to get up to speed.

Race 1 - Started 7th finished 2nd car was better but needed more work on the handling.

Race 2 - Started 2nd and lead the race until the second to last lap. The car was pushing badly and went wide in Namrow and was passed for the lead and drove cautiously to finish the race in second place. More work to do.

Race 3 - Started 2nd and got the lead at the start and kept it until the end and finished 1st and 1st overal for the weekend. Car was better but required careful tire management and strategy to keep a very fast 79 IMSA Mustang on slicks in second place.

This weekend was a test for all concerned. There is work to do over the winter to improve the handling and braking . We will be ready for next year.
